Strawberry Daiquiri

(By the way... in case you didn't notice, it's a "daiquiri"--not a strawberry "daquari", or a strawberry "daquiri".)

This is the recipe for the best strawberry daiquiri slush... better than all other recipes for fresh strawberry daiquiris.

Non-Alcoholic ("Virgin") Strawberry Daiquiri Drink Recipe

  • 6 Large Strawberries (+2 Strawberries, 1 for Each Glass's Rim)
  • 6 Large Ice Cubes (About the Size of the Strawberries)
  • 1 Tablespoon (15 mL) Grenadine
  • 4 Tablespoons (60 mL) Lime Juice
  • 2 Tablespoons (30 mL) Sugar (+ a Little for the Rim of Each Glass)

Add the sugar to the lime juice and grenadine, and stir until the sugar dissolves (you can add a little water if you wish, but the more water that you add, the more "watered-down" the daiquiri will be... so try not to add too much). Place the 4 strawberries, 6 ice cubes, and lime juice/grenadine/sugar mix into a blender and blend until slushy.

For decoration, carefully slice the remaining strawberries length-wise from their tips, about 3/4 of the length. Place a strawberry on the rim of each glass, and move the strawberry around the rim of the glass. Remove the strawberry, add some sugar to a plate or the palm of your hand, and turn the glass rim gently through the sugar to coat the rim. Replace the strawberry on the rim, and add the daiquiri slush.

Makes two approximately 8 ounce (250 mL) drinks (or one drink like you see in the photo on this page).

This answers the question "How do you make a 'virgin' strawberry daiquiri?" The difference between a recipe for a "virgin" daiquiri and an alcoholic daiquiri is really just the alcohol. For example, frozen rum strawberry daiquiri recipes call for the addition of 9 tablespoons (9 ounces, or 135 mL) of rum. And the ingredients in a strawberry daiquiri made with vodka are exactly the same except for the 9 tablespoons (9 ounces, or 135 mL) of vodka.
