Everybody likes to have their "icing-on-the-cake"! That's especially true when it's strawberry icing! Whether it's cake, or cupcakes, or cookies, strawberry buttercream frosting will make you smile! And you can make this frosting for yourself with this simple recipe:

Strawberry Buttercream Frosting Recipe

  • 3 Tablespoons (45 mL) Strawberry Syrup
  • 1 1/2 Cups (375 mL) Powdered ("Confectioner's") Sugar
  • 1/4 Cup (50 mL) Heavy Cream
  • 3 Tablespoons (45 mL) Butter
  • 1 Teaspoon (5 mL) Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 Teaspoon (2 mL) Salt

The first thing that you need to do is to place the butter, strawberry syrup, salt, and cream into a pan over low heat and to stir everything together until the butter melts. After the butter has melted, remove the pan from the heat and add in the vanilla extract. Finally, begin to stir the sugar into the mix, a little at a time, until all of the sugar has been added.

And that's all that you need to do! Makes about 2 cups (500 mL).

You can use the frosting right away, or you can place it in a container and keep it in the refrigerator for up to a week (up to a year in the freezer).
