A nice, chilled fruit salad makes a great main dish for breakfast or lunch, or a nice side dish anytime! In the summer it's a great way to cool off, and in the winter it can cheer us up by adding lots of nice color to a time that is often a bit short on color. And these salads are super easy to make, too! If you're feeling a little sluggish, fruit salad can really pick you up! Fruit Salad with Strawberries Recipe
Once you've gotten the fruit prepped, all you need to do to make your salad is just toss all the ingredients together like you would any other salad, then chill it in a closed container in the refrigerator for 2 hours. After that, it's ready to serve! Makes about 2 quarts (2 liters), or 6-8 bowl size servings. You can also add banana slices, but it's usually best to add them fresh, just at the time that you are ready to eat your salad. If you prefer a sweeter salad than what you get with the pink grapefruit then you can substitute two small oranges or a cup (250 mL) of watermelon chunks for the grapefruit. Regardless of whether you use grapefruit, orange or watermelon, you will certainly have a very healthy and delicious strawberry dish!
