Cold and Velvety Strawberry Sherbet!
This sherbet has a really strong strawberry flavor... perfect for strawberry lovers! And if you have the strawberries, and an ice cream maker, then you probably have everything you need for making your sherbet right now! So what are waiting for? Here's what you have to do:
Strawberry Sherbet Dessert Recipe
- 2 Cups (500 mL) Strawberries
- 2 Cups (500 mL) 2% (Reduced Fat) Milk
- 2 Cups (500 mL) Granulated White ("Table") Sugar
- 1 Tablespoon (15 mL) Vanilla Extract
- Red Food Coloring (Optional)
The first thing to do is to put the strawberries in a blender and puree them. At this point, you may want to pour the puree through a sieve and into a bowl in order to separate the seeds from the rest of the puree. Next, pour the pureed strawberries into a pan, and then add the sugar and the milk. Stir these ingredients together on low heat until the sugar dissolves, then set the pan aside to let everything cool.
Once the contents of the pan have cooled, add the vanilla extract (and red food coloring, if desired) to the pan and stir everything together. Finally, pour this mix into an ice cream maker and process the sherbet as instructed by the ice cream maker's manufacturer.
Makes about 1 1/2 quarts (1 1/2 L).
Yes, it's really delicious, but try not to eat it all at one time! There are plenty of other good things you can make and eat with recipes from StrawberriesForStrawberryLovers.Com, Home of the World's Happiest Fruit!
